Timetable - September 30, 1946

Its a small thing, but the schedule for the combined Northbound Potatoland Special and train #9 has been set back to a 4 AM departure from Bangor. Perhaps not significant in the grand scheme, it means that passengers are no longer changing trains at Northern Maine Junction. By holding the train in Bangor for another 25 minutes or so past the previous departure, the Maine Central can make it all the way to Bangor and one hopes, make the transfer of sleeper cars (or their passengers) right in Bangor. Its simpler - easier - less confusing and does not require a lengthy stop at NMJ. This is the largest change on the rail side - but the Bus service continues to expand. Now requiring a third page in the timetable. Additional routes have been added - Caribou, New Sweden and Stockholm along with Caribou, Limestone and Fort Fairfield. Not to be outdone, Presque Isle, Washburn, Van Buren and Fort Kent are also home to their own bus route. These last three new additions are daily-except-Sunday But just about everything else on the bus side of things is a daily service.
