Timetable - September 29, 1947

Green has been swapped for red in this timetable and the inside double page advertisement has been changed as well. Although the Sportsmen theme is the same, we now have a photograph that looks very much like Katahadin and some updated ad copy below it. On the through train page, the switching of passengers at Northern Maine Junction seems to be back off again - with the Potatoland Special leaving Bangor at 4 AM instead of the previous 3:35. Although no note is made about it, it appears that might be still required for passengers headed from the Southbound Aroostook Flyer, the Flyer stops at Northern Maine Junction 5 minutes before the Kennebec Limited and is not due into Bangor until after the Limited had already left. No mention is made of this however and the southbound Potatoland no longer even stops at Northern Maine Junction and simply runs straight into Bangor. Trains 9 and 12 are still combined with the Northbound Potatoland and Southbound Flyer from Derby to Bangor and although the times have been adjusted to reflect the changes in the named trains schedules, the method of operation seems unaltered. In a move that seems designed to confuse - the Patten - Sherman - Island Falls - Oakfield - Houlton bus service is still listed under the rail section, but we are back to having all five stops listed under rail. This service does not appear under the bus section. Speaking of the bus section, one of the Presque Isle buses has been altered to include Loring Air Force base. It now reads: Presque Isle - Fort Fairfield - Easton - Limestone - Limestone Base. The base itself was begun in 1947, but was not renamed until 1954 to Loring. Despite being next to a column of bus information, we are invited to enjoy dining on B&A trains. Somewhat odd placing, but a staple of B&A passenger trains, almost to the end of rail passenger service.
