Timetable - September 25, 1945
Note: This timetable has a handwritten note on it referencing 1945. The timetable itself does not list a year. It is most likely that this is 1944 as timetable appears to be identical, right down to the lack of a year on the covers. It is the editor's opinion that this timetable is from 1944 and the hand written note is incorrect. This is based upon a few factors. September 25, 1945 was a Tuesday. A quick spot check reveals that September 25, 1944 was a Monday. Further, other dates that timetables went into effect were also Mondays. Being the first day of the work week, it makes more sense for the timetable to be effective on a Monday. This timetable makes no mention of the trains #3 and #4 that were introduced late in 1944. Further, the REA add references 1944 as if it were the current year. Additionally, the Patten-Sherman bus service makes no mention of Island Falls - which would mean a return to a 1944 operational pattern. It makes no sense for Island Falls and trains #3 and #4 to appear in the August and October 1945 timetables in this collection, but be left out of the September one. The conclusion is that this is a mislabeled 1944 timetable and it has been included only for comparison purposes.
