Timetable - October 25, 1959
Within a year of this timetable going into effect, the Maine Central would pull all passenger train operations and shut down Bangor Union Station. Although no one knew it, the clock was ticking on passenger rail. The B&A had gone to the Public Utilities Commission in 1959 requesting permission to abandon passenger rail service - that was denied. Declining ridership was nothing new and for the first time the rail and bus timetable is a single tri-fold brochure, double sided. Gone is the map of the State of Maine - gone are all advertisements and information not directly related to the the buses and trains.
The Red color scheme might be eye catching - but there was less in this timetable than there was six months earlier.
