Timetable - June 5, 1939
"When in New York you're just OVERNIGHT by Rail from the World's FAIRest Sportland Northern Maine" If we forgive the capitalization and horrible grammar - this Timetable is clearly aimed at pulling people in from New York, presumably those attending the World's Fair. Page 3 of this timetable has been heavily re-worked from the previous edition, showing connections and destinations along with train names for destinations as far away as Washington D.C. Pages 4 and 5 have been re-done and the information is now more clearly laid out. Destination stations are listed only once, with the directions either read up or down depending on which way one is going. All bus references have been removed - except for Patten - Sherman and Presque Isle - Mapleton because trains have been suspended there and buses have replaced them. Aside from this, the bus services are only listed on the Bus Service page.
This sounds like it would make things worse, but in reality it simplifies the information, makes the type slightly larger and therefore easier to read.
