Timetable - Freight Train Schedule - November 1, 1951
Public passenger timetables are fairly common, but a railroad published freight train schedule is somewhat rare. This is the third one of these produced by the railroad. Perhaps one of the greatest types of documents for those trying to understand traffic patterns produced by a railroad. It is interesting to note that there are no less than three Southbound trains to Northern Maine Junction, indicating just how much traffic goes out through the Maine Central. Interestingly, although the port of Searsport is specifically mentioned on page 12, the schedule pages do not indicate any regular scheduled service to Searsport. Interestingly, the 1954 Freight Train Schedule (Number 6) also ignores Southbound freight to Searsport, but does include a note about it in the Northbound section. The previous Freight Train Schedule, November 1, 1950, also neglects the southbound and has the Northbound mentioned.
