Timetable - April 26, 1959
Keeping the same general appearance as the last timetable from 1958 in this collection, this time we are in a blue tint instead of the black. The charter bus service advertisement is the first thing you see, a nice table of contents is next, below that the Avis Rent-A-Car advertisement, the B&A being an Avis licensee at this time. The bus schedules are first up with the rail schedules on page 4. The fares are on page 3 and you could still take a trip all the way from Boston to Fort Kent Maine in a sleeping car no less, for under $50. That is a round trip fare and includes the bus from Oakfield to Fort Kent. Rail service remains the single Northbound and Southbound Potatoland Specials, daily-except-Sunday. Gone is the passenger service between Derby and Greenville. The Potatoland Special really is the last service on the B&A. Food is still being served aboard the trains.
The buses are going everywhere the passenger trains used to and have picked up additional stops that are not on B&A lines. 1959 is a good time to be a bus fan!
