Timetable - April 25, 1955

Retaining the same green color from the April 1954 timetable, the cover is identical and even the fares seem to be the same. What has changed is the schedule of trains. In 1954, one had to turn the timetable to look at it vertically. In this timetable, no turning is required as they have broken things out into individual tables and those tables are setup for horizontal viewing.
What only a careful examination reveals is that the number of trains being offered has been reduced. Local trains have been replaced by buses along the Oakfield - Ashland - Fort Kent run and the mixed train shuttling between East Millinocket and Millinocket is simply gone. Despite not being a combined table with the bus service, there are two of the bus runs included in order to show how to get from the nearest train. In effect, the only trains running now are the Potatoland Special, the Aroostook Flyer and the Derby to Greenville Junction and return mixed train. (#9 and #12) Quite the reduction in a year - but - a sign of things to come. The end of all passenger train service on the B&A is less than 6 and a half years away.
